The last day of the month and is finally our brother, Clarence’s birthday. Good thing his girlfriend, Rowena, is in Perth as well. Ben organized the activities tonight. Firstly, we stopped by South Street Ale House where we had a really nice seafood dinner. It was seafood night so all the seafood stuff are for a standard price of $19. The food and ambience was good although we may be the only young Asian people there…ha ha! Then after that, drove down to Fremantle to the infamous Little Creatures. There, we had the best mud cake and Tiramisu. Seriously sinful! Yeah, had a great time tonight and got Clarence a pair Birkenstock as well. Cheers!

A sunny Saturday and we all went down to Heathcote for a nice afternoon barbeque. Been there twice and thought I should bring Weijie and my bunch of friends there. Went down to Canning Vale market in the morning to get all the BBQ supply before heading down to Heathcote in the afternoon. The weather is just perfect. Thank God it is not too crowded either. Yeah, guess everyone enjoyed themselves there. Had lots of food, stuffed ourselves, even had to play the number game to finish the food. We wrapped up the afternoon by getting some icy cold ice popsicles from the nearby café!

Today was a study day. But what made it interesting was where! Jon, Jennifer, Clarence, Sarah and me went down to Cottesloe beach for a good brunch at this place called Blue Duck. Well, it’s a restaurant which I will not describe it as cheap but the environment is just superb. The restaurant is set right on the shores over looking the beach. You can sit at the balcony and look out at the undisturbed horizon. Here, totally different from Singapore where the sea are just infested with big ships and tankers. Here, it is just the dark blue sea meeting light blue sky at the perfect horizon in harmony. The food tastes good but may not be that filling. But the cakes are good though. Had lunch and sat at the picturesque and studied till about sundown before we head home.

We had a surprise birthday party today at Adrian’s house. Today is his birthday and after much persuasion for the pass few days, finally got him to come home in time for us to surprise him…ha ha! Clarence planned this whole thing with his housemates. One of our friend who is a cook whipped up a good Chinese meal for all of us too. We had chicken wings, rending beef and roast duck soup! Sumptous! All of us enjoyed followed by the birthday cake of course…ha ha! Happy Birthday Adrian!

Today was the day for my first radio desktest. Well, basically for my radio unit, we have to go into the studios and record a 15 minute radio show live. I’ve been practicing for the past few nights. You not only have to know what to say but gotta know how to work the controls as well. Lots of coordination with buttons to press while entertaining listeners at the same time. Not easy but thought I did ok today! Yeah, I did a dedication show with many inspirations coming from my days of listening to Perfect 10 and Power 98…ha ha!

In the evening Huiqian, Clarence, Ben, Dwijin and me went all the way down to Midlands to collect Huiqian’s new car. A stunning white Mazda, hatchback, sports look complete with pop up headlights! Very impressive all going for just $3000. The place where we have to go is actually quite a deserted part of Midlands. Nothing much there, is like an industrial estate with only a few street lights. However, the lady we bought the car from was a really kind lady and she actually invited us into their house. You guys just have to check out the photos I posted! Took it with my phone camera. Her house is a antique museum. A true antique museum. You will not find any part of empty walls but all filled with beer ads of all sorts from around the world. Her boyfriend is a collector and they actually went to pubs in Bali to buy some of the stuff. They have keychains, Cocacola ads, Harley bike models and even a coffin…ha ha! It is just amazing. Never in my life have I seen a residential house as interesting as this. They truly spend their whole lives collecting all these stuff. I’m sure it be worth quite a bit after some time. Yeah, although we were a bunch of foreign Asian kids, she was really nice and sweet to all of us. Talked to us like we were friends and her hospitality was incredible, showing us around the house and stuff! Kinda miss the whole experience thinking about it now…ha ha!

Anyway, Huiqian happily drove away the car (which I must add have really authentic retro rims too) into the city where she treated us all to some nice Chinese food at City Garden!

Today was such a busy Saturday for me. In the morning was marketing time. Went down to Coles with Huiqian, Chris, Dwi Jen, Meisi, Lydia and Joey. Stayed about 2 hours there to do grocery shopping. Here, we have to buy enough supples to last us for the next 7 days or so. Sometimes you are just spoilt for choice or just don' t know what to cook for the coming week. For me, I usually look out for different stuff so that with my time here, I'll be able to try out all the different stuff they have and hopefully some Ozzie meals as well. I should tell you, I finally cooked a Kangaroo steak the other night. It is really yummy actually. For those out there who thinks it tastes weird, just to tell you if you don't know, it don't taste that much different from beef. And for the weight cautions, it is healthier than beef. So, there you go.

In the afternoon went to church to attend Ps Benny's seminar for the study of the Book of Joel. I must say he is really a good teacher of the Word. Got lots of insights and encouragement from this session. Made me excited for doing ministry as well.

In the evening, went with my old flatmate Mark to Emily's house warming. My first time going to a caucasian party. There's like only 2 Chinese people there I think. I am happy to have met friends like Mark and Emily. People usually say that it's hard for the Asians to mix with the Ozzie and stuff and you tend to stick in your own group of people. But I have found really good Ozzie friends as well. Met another guy called Alex there as well who wants to take me go fishing sometime. Hmm.... fishing sounds like a lot of fun actually. Anyway, had a good time at the party. Had BBQ food and a bath tub full of Beer and stuff.

I found a difference between Asian and Caucasian parties. In Asian culture, it seems that the food we eat at a party is more important while the Caucasians cared more for their drinks. For their drinks mean alcohol and stuff. It's like the important thing in a party something CANNOT to be missed....ha ha! Had a really good time there getting to know more people. Cool!

After that, came back and joined Weijie, Meisi, Zen and Joey for another round of horror movie. But the night's still not done. Don't know why they all suddenly say wanna go for a night run. So was dragged along as well. It's a cool night but we still did it anyway. Ran about half of the uni. It wasn't too bad. But have to keep cheering Meisi on. Meisi, you gotta Ganbatte!!!!

Today went down with Meisi and Lydia to UWA, the University of Western Australia. The 2 girls said they never seen UWA before so they wanted to go down to have a look at the UNi. Well, UWA is really nice. Nothing like Murdoch University. UWA is more of the traditional kind of architecture dor a university. People actually go there to take wedding pictures. So you can just imagine the roman pillars and cathedral buildings.

Met Danny when I was there. It was like the 1st time I met him in Ozzieland actually. He's looking good. Not forgetting my old JC classmate Lim Lee too! Really good to finally have met them. Weijie brought us around the school and we took so much pictures lah. But the best part of the school I like is the outdoor cinema they have. It's really cool and the seats are so comfortable. It's like watching a movie in the middle of the forest. 5 stars for that.

After that, went to the city to walk around and settled for dinner at the Japanese restaurant called Nagoya. I would say that it is still quite a decent Jap restaurant, not too expensive too. Wanted to go to Taka but can't seem to find the place actually. Well, there are always other opportunities....ha ha!

Just came back from a fun but disappointing crabbing experience. We had 5 cars who went down together to Mandurah hoping to get some crabs before they all disappear into the autumn season. Some of my friends who went last said it was quite a good catch. We were all high in hopes of having a fantastic crab meal tonight. Joshua, Monica, Cheryl and Me even went to the supermarket early this moring to get ingredients for chilli and pepper crab.

Mandurah is such a nice place. The weather was good as well. We were there in the evening time and it isn't too hot. Just really nice. Went to this place called the Peel Inlet to try out luck at scooping up some crabs. You will not believe how shallow the peel inlet is. Anyway, the Peel Inlet is kinda like a lake that is very near to the mouth of the river which then leads to the India Ocean. We actually waded in the water at about 1km away from the shore, and the water level is only up to our waist. It is especially nice when the night falls and you are practically surrounded with water and looking up in the sky, you see nothing but stars. But I thought the sunset was the best. The water all around you suddenly turns gold in colour. Really cool.

But alas, the season seems dry. In the end we only caught 2 crabs. And all caught by me...ha ha ha! So very sad but I must tell you that the satisfaction of scooping up the crab is trememdous. Disappointed but I'm definitely going back again when the season comes again.

In the end, we had to settle for some Italian food and chilli mussels from Concas. Still all of us had fun together. That's still the most important.

Cheers!

The second week of Uni is almost coming to an end. My week has been quite pleasant. Timetable's not too bad. Had quite a spreaded timetalbe this semester this year, except for a killer Tuesday with no breaks from 9.30am to 3.30pm. But after alst tuesday, it didn't went too bad. Radio tut was fun, really fun. Many people that did radio has told me that it was a really fun unit and I can't agree more. Got into the studio and with so much buttons to play with. Booked myself a slot to go in an try out all the buttons and stuff. Yeah... looks exciting. Then, have another tut for Digital studios where we get to play around with Photoshop and Flash. It'll be good if more time can be spent on Flash though...ha ha!

Today, had only 1 tut so it wasn't too bad. Good thing that the weather seems to be cooling down. More cloud cover over the skies of Perth will do good for everyone. Got pursuaded by Meisi to attend her courtyard's BBQ....ha ha! Got to meet some friends there though the food wasn't enough(as usual). Then, went to Arthur's place to have a night of Mahjong session....ha ha! Playing with them really made me stress as all of them seems so pro. Well, hope in time I can brush up on my skills too....ha ha! Alright, that's all for now. Will try to keep up and update you guys on what's happening on Perth. Take care peeps!
