Today commences my day of intense study for my Life & Universe exam on Thursday. Seeing the title think all of you already have guessed is some chim unit right. Well, it’s sorta in the sense that we have to remember science facts, read science fiction, know some geography. Basically, we gotta understand science, geography, human behaviour, imagination and philosophy all jumbled into one. Well, it’s really fun to study and I’m really interested in this kinda stuff. Especially we learn a lot about space traveling, space, planets, galaxies, universe. Yeah…I just love it and you can just start to imagine how amazing God is to create everything. Just hope the paper on Thursday can be as enjoyable as well.

Went to Tiffany’s place for dinner tonight. Tiff and Wenjie decided to cook for us, very nice of them. THANKS guys! And as usual, Jennifer just can’t let loose of her books and just sit there for dinner. For those who don’t know Jennifer (she calls herself ‘nifer’), she studies veterinary science (to be a vet). Her exam is like Wednesday and the whole dinner she is just thinking which part of the animal did her meat she’s eating come from…ha ha! A little exaggerated lah, butthey have to know like where does the T-Bone or Topside beef comes from. Tested her a little after dinner, then saved her by finding out ‘TOPSIDE BEEF”, the one she forgot…ha ha! You owe me a treat Jen…ha ha! ;-)

Today was also the Grand Finale of the Australian Idol, well, didn’t really follow it. I just watch the front parts will all the funny auditions then watch the end. They had it at the Sydney Opera House. The whole event is such a big thing, like American Idol, as compared to Singapore, the standard is much higher as well I think. Kate won if you guys don’t know.

Church seems to be empty today as so many students are slowly heading back home. At first I thought the sanctuary was quite empty but actually it was still alright. But next week onwards gonna be much less people I guess.

Tonight, I promised to cook dinner for Meisi they all during their exams. So today did my Swedish Chicken for them along with some wedges. Had to pack it for Meisi cos she just refused to come down to have dinner with us. Anyway, know she’s working really hard. You will do well Meisi, don’t worry! =)

Today was just a long day to run some errands and do some souvenir shopping as I guess next week will be quite pack for me to do any shopping. Me and Sara went down to Koorong, a super big Christian bookshop. On our way there, there was a huge jam on the Kwinana freeway that we almost died under the heat of the summer sun and the slow traffic. We were stuck for like half an hour and we were both so grateful when we finally reached the air condition Koorong bookshop. Was there for quite a while looking for books and stuff. Promised my big sis, Cynthia, to get her some books from here. Then, we walked around the city to find a camera shop to check on my video cam. We found it along this mall called London street, a really cool street, exactly like the street out of a Harry Potter movie. But alas, here is Ozzieland and so the shop is closed on Satrurday. So we had to lugged ourselves back under the scorching sun.

In the afternoon, went down to Fremantle with Lydia. She going back on Monday so she idid some last minute shopping to buy some fruits for her granny back home. For me, I bought some coffee for my parents. The coffee here is shiok. More variety than Starbucks and Coffee Bean put together. They have a range of coffee beans from Chocolate Macadamia, Jack Daniels to Blue Mountain. The aroma was just fantastic. Bought some nougats as well. Hoping to buy fruits but don’t think will have the chance to as it’s best to buy just before you board the plane. They’re just so cheap here. Bought like 2 big bunches of Strawberries for only $3!!! Lydia bought a box of peaches for $20. Yeah, peaches and mangos are in season now. After a long day, good thing Lydia volunteered to cook mee sua for dinner.

Studied for the whole day today and then the bunch of us went out for late night supper. Brought the girls to Fast Eddys down at Fremantle, never had the chance to bring them to supper during the semester and so taking advantage of the semester endings to go for some late night munching. At the same time, a little break from all the exam and study stress that is going on. We ordered quite a bit of food, Chili Bowl chips, wedges and pork ribs to go round the table. The girls also ordered the American Milkshake which just knocked them off their seats. As usual, took lots of pictures and we actually spent quite some time to get the right shots….ha ha!

Ian finished his last paper today. He is going back to Singapore tomorrow (you see, another one leaving), met up with him to buy some Ozzie souvenirs back. Spent a whole afternoon walking around the super huge Westfield Carousel Shopping centre, bought lots of chocolates, Tim Tams and other Ozzie snacks. Looked at some Christmas stuff as well, the Christmas deco have so much more variety than back in Singapore. They look so much nicer and may even be cheaper. At night, went to Gosnell’s again for out BBQ steak. Our last Ozzie meal for this year, then be bracing ourselves for all the cheap and yummy hawker food again….ha ha!

Yesterday sent Geraldine off and today sent Arthur off. Had lunch with Arthur and Javier at subway before Arthur bid his farewell to us. The pass few days have people leaving back for home and I am foreseeing that it will continue to happen for the next few days. And for me, still stuck here and worst, I still have not even started my exams. That’s sad, but having only 1 exam to take and have to wait till the 2nd last day of exams to do it is depressing. Happy to see my friends going back for the holidays, well, it’ll be my tunr in 2 weeks. See you all lovely people back in Singapore soon. Cheers!

Geraldine is leaving for Singapore tml, so me and Louisa was helping her move stuff to Arthur’s house for the summer. I must say, she does really have lots of stuff with her. I think about 4 to 6 boxes, and those were boxes alone along with all the other stuff. She was a little stress having to pack all her stuff 1 night before she flies off. Anyway, good thing we moved most of her things to Arthur’s house already. But think she still have some more which will have to leave it till tomorrow morning.

Then went out for a late night supper with Meisi, Raine and Lydia and brought them to Concas because they are all just craving for some chili mussels. I did not really have a full dinner so was quite hungry as well. Today’s chili mussels weren’t very hot, but kinda more of the sour type. Then, we also ordered a combination plate of some pasta and meat balls. Not too bad, had a good time. Not really a lot chance can bring them out for late night suppers. But definitely, cannot do it too often, if you know what I mean. Cheers!

I only have one paper to sit and it just too bad I have to wait till the 24 of November to take it. Really sucks though. But anyway, on the bright side think at least wil have time to study and do some fun stuff on the way as well. So today was robed in by Su to help out at Nina’s play. Called the “Interpreter of Maladies”, I must say is a brilliant piece of work that Nina has crafted. It was just a three persons play who brought out the story through a story teller and two dancers. It was Indian dance, and I thought the dancers were amazing as well. Especially that they blended in well with the colourful lightings and the minimalist stage. I was helping them to video the play for documentation and helped to paint the stage yesterday as well. After all the hard work, all of us came together for a good dinner, Nina’s mother had made like 3 kinds of curry along with some bread. Yes, just what I needed, some hot curry. Nina’s from Singapore, so her mum’s curry is standard, hot and good. She even had sweet potatoes in one of her curry, never knew sweet poatoes went with curry. Absolutely amazing!

Church was special today. We had a baptism service today. And yeah, among those getting dipped into water are both my very good friends Hazel and Jeremy. Yeah, both of them getting baptized on a very joyous note, had service as usual today before moving on to the baptism service. Here, at FCC, Baptism is done by immersing fully in water. The stage of the church actually as has a trap door that opens up to reveal a pool below. It was really cool, this was my first time witnessing immersion in water as well. The service itself was so much fun. IT was not at all boring but it kinda feel that the church is just one whole big family. After every single person was baptized, it will be followed by loud cheers from the congregation. All of us are just thrilled to see our brothers and sisters in Christ go through the baptism and confirming their faith. The whole ceremony was kinda personal as well, as before each went down the water, the pastor will read their favourite verse and an encouragement note unique to each of them. The whole service was really heart warming and I see too the people in the congregation being encouraged as well. Congratulations to Jeremy and Hazel again!

Today was a full day of eating. Went to Rising Sun to have their famous Dim Sum buffet with Meisi, Lydia and Ian. We had the usual stuff and I still find it really good. Well, though some might say it is not the best place to get Dim Sum, but I thought it is really value for money. Actually, the food is not that bad after all, the variety is quite good as well with desserts to go along in the end. All for $11, it’s worth trying. Then, at night, Maryann suggested to meet up for dinner before she flies home tomorrow. So Maryann, Geraldine, Arthur, Ian, Tat, K and me went down to Freo to have dinner. Actually wanted to have dinner at this nice place recommended by Geraldine, Roma, to have dinner, but it was just too crowded. They server pasta and the price is very reasonable and the portion is quite generous, but it was too crowded for out hungry stomachs to wait. So we walked around and found that most places are actually full, so we finally settled for kebabs. Then, went to Gelato Company and had a medium tub to share around. The gelato is really good and yeah 100% fat free. That’s the difference between ice cream and gelato. Gelato is much tastier than ice cream without the fats, how good is that. The girl serving us was a really pretty Italian girl too…ha ha! Then, went to meet up with Tat and K and we headed to Little Creatures for some beer and fries. Little Creatures is just amazing, it is like a pub in a big factory. It is inside this big wooden warehouse. On top of that, the brewery is inside the bar itself. Half of the place is the brewery and the other half is the bar and restaurant. So you get truly fresh beer, heard that the place was previously a crocodile farm. And they are really smooth. I recommend them if you like smooth beer. Before waiting to be seated, they give you party hats to wear with funny names on them. Ian also took that chance to show off some of his magic tricks. From his psychic powers to his penetrating rubber bands, he just made everyone crazy. He even showed the rubber band trick to the waitress there, you should have seen her face. Well, it was a day of feasting but also a day to meet up together before the summer holidays come and we all fly home.

Cell was really fun today. Had our pot bless, the last cell where all of us gather for a good meal before we start our exams or fly back home for the summer. We had it at Tiffany’s cozy and warm little house. There were like heaps and heaps of food. There were Geraldine’s curry vegetable (very yummy), Melanie’s nachos, Su’s roasted chicken, Elizabeth’s cottage pie and lasagna, Maryann’s salad, Arthur’s Chilli Mussels, Tasha’s fried wanton, Tiffany’s been hoon and the rest just filled in with another table full of dessert. There were ice cream, cakes, jellies and stuff. Wow… lots of food and we all truly had a good meal. Then Maryann decided to have a role playing game where we’ll go around telling stories and some of us will act out. It started with a guy spotting a beautiful girl until another guy ending up marrying the beautiful girl. This is because the other guy’s mother bribed the matchmaker to put them together. I know is complicated but it seems that there isn’t any simpler method to explain this. Well, we had lots of fun and laughing through the night. A really wonderful fellowship we had. Hey guys and gals, all the best for all your exams. Hope we’ll be able to meet up in Singapore too. God bless!

Just came back from Sara’s house, was there preparing for tomorrow’s Pot bless. Gonna do fried ice cream cos it seems to be everyone’s favourite dessert. Well, for it to work, it’s simple to do but a bit of work though. Bought the ingredients and went to Sara’s house. Good thing, that Sara’s mum is willing to lend me her freezer cos the one at my flat is always too full to put anything else. Fried ice cream is quite tedious to do, you gotta juggle with time and do it fast enough so that the ice cream do not melt. It always seems that it will not work out but it takes about a night for everything to freeze and look good the day after. Well, I’m done for the night. Hopefully it’ll freeze over to become cute little fried ice cream buns tomorrow.

Anyway, went with my army friends, Layton and Paul, to this Ipoh Café to have some Ipoh Hor Fun. Well, though is a little expensive but good nonetheless. Think is a quite a famous one as the place was quite full when we went there. The place is at Applecross, just around the corner from Garden City. Another nice eatery discovered…ha ha!

Kayaking is the theme for today, went with Mary-Ann, Louisa, Tiffany, Wenjie and Joshua! It was much more fun than I thought. We rented the kayaks and had to roll them for about 10 minutes to the launch site. It was really fun kayaking down the Swan River. The air was cool and so is the water. It was just so comfortable and the water so very calm. It is like we had the whole river to ourselves. Though we only had about less than an hour to Kayak (cos we went late), we still got the kick out of it… yeah!
Then, in the evening went to Tiff’s house for dinner. Well, Jennifer sorta invited me cos she needed me to drive Louisa there…hem hem…ha ha! Anyway, was very nice they asked me along. Tiffany and Wenjie whipped up a very nice home cooked meal. We had a big bowl of chicken and mushrooms, egg tofu and broccoli, followed by Ice cream and jellies. It was really nice. Then we studied but as usual, Jennifer and Sara both were laughing so hard now and then on some jokes. They were just so gigglish today…ha ha!

After my editing yesterday, wasn’t feeling too well. Was sneezing away, maybe is that been busy editing and so fall sick. But this morning after a good sleep is much better already. Tonight, went over to Arthur’s place, the few of us had a movie night. We had fish and chips and pizza. Yes, a good meal at last after 2 days. We watched LOTR: Return Of The King for the full 3 hours. Was a long film, but was a good film. All the more, it’s just different watching and eating so much chips and stuff. Also, watching with a bunch of good friends, it’s just different. We talked and shared jokes throughout….ha ha! Yeah, one of the best ways to pass an eveing, lots of food, a good movie and a bunch of good friends! Shaken, not stirred!

Just had our last official cell tonight, we were planning a surprise for everyone. Something Sara, MaryAnn and me had been working hard at. MaryAnn came up with the idea of giving little awards to every cell member like a gift and token of appreciation. So we bought long glass bottles and fill it up with stuff related to what each person is called. Like we had Miss “with the cherry on top” for Geraldine (cos is her favourite phrase) and so had little red cherries for her. While for Arthur we had Mr Moisturizer, because he was known a the guy who goes around asking for moisturizer…ha ha! We had blue and clear pebbles to signify water for him. Well, there are still quite a lot of them. You can go ask them to show it to you….ha ha! Then, celebrated Tiffany’s birthday as well, another surprise for her. Cell is just so fun. Next week be having a pot bless… be looking forward to that! Cheers!

It was Melanie’s and Felice’s birthday today. Both of them are flat mates sharing exactly the same birthdates, meaning they were born exactly on the same day and year. How cool is that! Remember the Heathcote a few weeks ago? Melanie loved that place so much that it inspired her for her birthday celebration. And so, today all of us headed down again to the beautiful water front of Heathcote. This time, there were more people, more food and the weather was so much nicer. Last time, was a hot and dry sunny day. Today, it was warm and breezy. Perfect weather! Melanie, Jith and gang really came up with lots of food. This time, we had beef steak, beef kebabs, lamb kebabs, the all time favourite Char Siew chicken, hot dogs, salad and been hoon. Really a lot of food, I thought it was more of a high tea than a BBQ. Ate like the whole time there….ha ha! Was there from like 2pm to 7pm. A wonderful time right after the tests! Then, both of them each had a birthday cake. Both cakes were seriously rich and yummy. Melanie has some sort of a Chocolate fudge cake and Felice had a fruit cheesecake. Absolutely delicious! Before we ended the day, the few crazy people, us, made use of the huge ship like play ground to play catching. Ha ha… just like in Primary school. Whole bunch of Uni students some more. But it was fun and really gave us some work out after a day of feasting! Enjoy the photos!

The day after the tests and I’m ready to have a relaxing week up ahead. I’m almost done for the semester. Went for an afternoon jog today (stopped jogging for a while), the sun was really hot but the run was good. Then after that, Sara and me went down to Bunnings and Gone Bazaar to do some shopping. We saw quite a lots of really nice stuff. Lots of the Christmas decoratives and Christmas lights. Really nice and not expensive either. Gonna get some back home so won’t need to spend a bomb getting Christmas stuff from Takashimaya…ha ha! Saw a really nice fondue set going for $9.95. Yeah, got my eyes on that and I’m definitely going for that the next time round I visit Gone Bazaar.

After that, went down to Fremantle with Jonathan, Jennifer, Debbie, Cheryl and Joshua for some after tea (or coffee). Went to this place called Merchant coffee (I think), really chick coffee house. Not like Starbucks but more like DOME or Coffee Club. I ordered a Frapuccino cos the day was just absolutely hot. “The Sun was at its full glory!” I said…ha ha! The place have a very wooden English settings. The ceilings above they have those traditional straw fans fanning back and forth by some kind of machine. Really unique and nice.

In the evening, the whole bunch of us went down to Sizzler’s to celebrate Melanie’s and Tiffany’s birthday. Melanie’s birthday is tomorrow and Tiffany’s birthday is on Friday. Was supposed to be a surprise party, well, it was an almost surprise for them I suppose. Acutally, planned to blow and put up some balloons around the place before they arrive. But there was a long queue and Sizzler’s don’t take any reservations. So we just had to come earlier and wait in line. Though we came earlier but not early enough and had only time to put up the “HAPPY BIRTHDAY” banner. But anyway, it was still a success, everyone enjoyed themselves and really had a fun time tonight. Ian was there too and of course entertained everyone there with his magic tricks and all so funny jokes and impersonations. Had a really fun and busy day. Well, looking ahead to tomorrow again. Another fun day coming ahead. Well, Spring will be Spring….ha ha!

YES! YES! YES! Today marks the end of my first 2 units in University life. Got my final tests for both my units for Writing for the Media and Introduction to Screen Studies. Was mugging and studying for the past few days. Got 2 papers back to back starting 9.30am this morning is not my idea of fun. But finally now it’s all over. I’m so relieved. Can concentrate on finishing my film and just worry for my foundation paper. Sadly, my one and only exam paper for that unit is on 24 December. Looking on the bright side, means that I have more time to prepare and study for it. But at least for now, gonna relax a little. Went with Arthur, Tasha and Geraldine to harboutown aftermy paper to shop. Arthur just got his new license and is just craving to drive as much as he can. So we drove down to harbourtown and spent about 2 hours shopping. The girls did more (of course), while me and Arthur enjoyed some afternoon waffles and ice cream. Today’s Tuesday and Gelare had like half price on their Waffles… so was really a good offer. After that, we went to look around and I bought a pair of board shorts for just $10. Harbourtown is THE place to buy clothes. You can get really nice shirt (NOT t-shirt) for like $10 to $20. Yeah, I’m definitely saving up money to go there and get some more nice clothes before I go home….ha ha!

In the evening, Ian came over my place to study. I went to help out at Su’s play at the University’s drama centre, Nexus. Me and Louisa were supposed to sell wine and drinks at the bar before the show starts. Was quite a neat job and besides, we got to watch the play for free. Called, Love of the Nightingale, the play’s really good. I really liked the plays settings and lights. The story’s good too…. Funny at times but was one of those tragic plays. I like happy endings better….ha ha! Well, endings might not always be happy. But I believe the FINAL ENDING is definitely a HAPPY one! Cheers!
