Today finally finished filming my film project. Well, left only 1 scene to shoot on Sunday night. Did it at Kings Park again and I must say that today we had a much pleasant experience than last week. Lesser people, lesser crowds and found a really good spot for some nice shots. Then went to the city as well to get some shots. Basically our film is about this homeless man leading a really sad life finding paradise again. It’s called EDEN. So when it’s complete can ask me to show you guys. Yeah! Gonna go study now for the upcoming tests for Tuesday.

Arrived in Perth on the 17 of July and today is the 26 of October already. How time flies. Here I am in Australia, not a kangaroo or koala in sight and a semester just whizzed past me. Today, I ended week 12. Basically it can count that I have ended all of my lectures and tutorials. Next week is week 13, nothing much except for two lecture and two tutorials. But will be having two tests next week on the same day sia, one for Writing for the Media and one for Screen Studies. My first semester here in Murdoch has been more than a pleasant experience. Had a really good timetable and good lecturers, along with that, all my tutors are really cool too. Love my tutors and lecturers. My tutorial groups are really nice too. Get to meet and make some really good friends. Of course, all the cute and pretty girls as well…..ha ha! I’m sure gonna miss them….ha ha!

Anyway, will be studying and mugging hard for the next few days. Oh, and some good news for those in Singapore. If you are looking for a really good and cheap holiday, SINGAPORE AIRLINES is offering return flights to BALI for $98. There are no gimmicks, just need to purchase your tickets online and travel in the month of November. Go to http://www.singaporeair.com/saa/en_UK/index.jsp for more information.

Take it from me, I know the Bali bombings happened again. But think about it, I don’t think it will be bombed again. It will be just too lame for it to be bombed again. JUST TOO LAME! Bali is still a beautiful place and it is up to us to build it up to a beach paradise again. We should not let the terrorist win and instill fear in us.

PS- Will reveal the Japanese entry soon. Watch this space!

Hungry Jack's & Macdonald's
Sunday, October 23, 2005

Went to church today for a really good worship and sermon. Today, we looked into Revelation and I must say the speaker does give us practical lessons from Revelation. After church, we went to Hungry Jack’s for lunch. For those not in Ozzieland, here, Burger King is Hungry Jack’s. Everything is the same just that the name is different. Had a double whopper meal but I still think that Singapore’s Burger King has much more variety than over in Ozzz. They don’t even have Mushroom Swiss here, can you believe that? But here, there’s a selection of deli burgers which is not available in Singapore. They are the healthier kind of burgers, similar to what you get a Subway but much smaller. After lunch, did some grocery shopping with Sara and Tiffany before coming back for a Project meeting. I have a presentation for my foundation unit tomorrow.

In the evening, cooked chicken rice for dinner. Meisi and Lydia came over for dinner. Then, later tonight, borrowed car from Louisa and drove down to Leach highway because the girls were just craving for ice cream. The only Macdonald’s that has a 24 hour drive through really had a long queue. When it was finally our turn, we had changed from ice cream to Milkshake. We initially ordered 2 chocolate milkshake and 1 strawberry milkshake. But guess what, in the end, they could only give us 2 chocolate milkshake as they were running low. So, in the end, we had a full refund and 2 free milkshakes. Not too bad if you ask me….ha ha!

The weekend’s here and I’m still deep in lots of filming to do. Today, was a long day at Kings park doing my filming again. The weather is warming up, that’s good, but that also means that the flies are all coming out. The flies here are really disgusting! Though, they seem to fly slower than their counterparts back in Singapore (you can actually kill a fly easily here), there is just too much of them. They are not shy and come right up to your face. They circle your ear making the most irritating buzzing sound. They will fly right in front of you, go in between your eyes and your glasses…. AARRGH!!!! Really cannot stand. Besides that, we set up out set for filming just to feel raindrops falling from the sky! Great, just great, had to move all our props and food (they are props) into the shade and wait for the rain to stop. Glad that the day is finally over and we got some nice footages. Hope it all pays off!

Today started my filming for my final film project for Screen Production I. Went to a tattered andburn down house along Victoria Park. Perfect location for a homeless man scene. My friend, Abdul, found the place. Filming is always enjoyable but tiring at the same time. It is a fun thing to do but something you gotta be really serious in. What you have visualize is not as easy to carry out. A 3 minute short film can be at least 30 hours of work. SUPER HARD WORK! No exaggeration at all. Had a long day filming and no thanks to the rainy weather which made up change our filming plans.

In the late afternoon, rushed down my Jeremy to Southlands to get a cake for tonight’s cell. This place called Divine Delights or something. A good place recommended by Maryann, I think is her super good recommendation. The cakes looks as good as it tastes. We saw one that is like just topped with huge cream puffs and many other really delicious designs but gone for the Tiramisu instead. The price is really reasonable too. A 1 kg cake can be just $20.
So tonight at cell, we celebrated Geraldine’s, Jean’s and Jennifer’s birthday all at one shot. One Tiramisu, Chilli Con Carn Nacho Dips and a Chocolate topped with people from both Kardy and Murdoch cell. Mix together and you have a great birthday party and fellowship. As usual, lots of laughter were shared and smiles were given to 133 camera shots on my camera alone in just under 1 hour.

After that, we went down to Famosa to grab some midnight bubble tea….ha ha! Really missed the BUBBLES in the BUBBLE tea! Ha ha… I had Lemon red tea with BUBBLES. Good!

Nothing much happened today. Had no lessons but spent the whole day dong up my storyboard for my final short film for this semester. Going into production tomorrow and so gonna be a busy weekend. The storyboard is just a plan of how the shoot is goona be like and how the final plan might look like.

Went jogging with Sara today cos I promised her will bring her jogging….ha ha! Anyway, she says she jog very slow but that’s not true. She’s not bad, not fast but just normal jogging speed. So don’t believe her if she says she runs super slow K…ha ha! She’s quite good actually. Keep up the good work. And yes, think she will be speeding up soon…ha ha! The weather’s been really good lately. The afternoon’s really nice and warm with cool breezes. The sun’s out and the flowers are blooming. Spring is definitely here. Even the evening are just cool and not cold.

Tonight went out with Layton and Paul, my army buddies. We went down to Fremantle for dinner. Tried out this buffet pizza place Geraldine recommended. It’s called Pizza On High. A really humble little Italian restaurant located at a little corner of Fremantle. It’s not too bad, $12 and all you can eat pasta and pizza. There are like 9 different pastas and about 15 different kinds of pizzas to choose from. So there is quite a few varieties but in a la carte style. There is dessert and soup too. But I recommend that you go in a group of at least 5 is the best unless you are all really hungry people. Cos you guys know pasta and pizza are really filling stuff so in order to eat a bigger variety go in groups are better. But this restaurant is good as they don’t serve you too much as well. Like today we had 3 people so they serve us like 3 to 4 pieces for each pizza. The slices are quite huge though. Anyway, another nice place to check it out guys. The place is just along The Notre Dame University. Cheers!

Woke up extra early today at about 8.10am. Geraldine’s birthday today so Tiffany, Tasha and I are supposed to give her a surprise. Tiffany bought Geraldine a flashing tiara (Ger’s favourite thing) and we are to give her at the start of the day so she can wear it the whole day. We waited along the walkway to school for about 10 minutes before Geraldine strolled towards us. Tiffany made up an excuse that she’s gonna pass her some sushi but actually she was getting something more. She was not really surprised to see us but surprised that we got a tiara for her. We dared her to wear it the whole day but of course she declined the challenge. Apparently she had a guest lecture today and wearing a tiara to class will spoil her image in broadcast journalism. Still, she was happy to get her first surprise today.

In the evening, we had another “surprise” for her but in the end she found out anyway. We gathered down at her flat waiting to sing HAPPY BIRTHDAY to her from the ground floor but she took too long choosing a bag and in the end the gang got too cold outside and just went straight in. Ally and Louisa baked Geraldine a Chocolate Fudge cake, a really chocolatey one. After singing her the birthday song, she made a wish, blew out the candle and we headed for Baskin Robbins at O’Connors. I treated her to a tub of Baskin’s ice- cream. There are 3 flavours in a tub equivalent to more than 10 scoops of ice- cream. The rest of us got a big tub and shared it around. Had lots of people showing up tonight, more than I expected and of course Geraldine was really glad that her birthday wasn’t forgotten. How will we forget right….ha ha! May you continue to burn for God and continue to grow in His love in this coming new year. HAPPY BIRTHDAY GERALDINE!

Today is James’ and Iris’ wedding. Got to know this lovely couple through Wendi when I came to Perth. They had a wedding in a church near the King’s Park area. My 2nd wedding here and I’m here barely 3 months; very nice of them to invite me. It was a simple wedding with their family and friends. I helped them to do some video recording during the ceremony. It’s my forte anyway….ha ha! After that, we had a little high tea session. It was special as all the guest was told to bring something for the high tea and so we had a mix of all these amazing food. From cheese with crackers, to chicken to sushi to Indian pastry, it was all there and boy were they good. There were also these two fruit pies that were just amazing. One was with Strawberry and preach and the other just grapes. But the pies were just loaded with fruits. Loaded I tell you! Along with that, we had a range or wine and beer to go along as well. Then, we went down to UWA (University of Western Australia) to take some wedding pictures. You guys might think why go to a Uni to take Wedding pictures, well UWA does really have a beautiful architecture to their building and a lovely scenery. Imagine the Uni’s building is just like an art museum right out of Europe, complete with Roman style pillars. Really nice.

In the evening, James and Iris treated all of us to dinner to thank us for helping them out during their wedding. Went to this Chinese restaurant called Happy Meals and the food really reflect the name of is restaurant. The food’s good. We had beef brisket, roast duck, fried fish, blachang (real blachang!) vege. The restaurant had BYO as well so we had some sparkling wine as well.

For those outside of Ozzieland, here some restaurants have this sign called BYO, meaning Bring Your Own, when you see this you can bring your own bottles of wine to the restaurant. Which means, you will not need to get expensive wine from the restaurant and can bring your own. On top of that, the restaurant will also chill the wine for you and give you glasses. That’s what I call service.

Anyway, after dinner, the whole gang of us went down to James’ and Iris’ house to sing Karaoke. And I’m the one forced to sing…ha ha! But we all had a lot of fun just hanging out, drinking beer and singing together. James has a room just for Karaoke and his collection of songs is comprehensive. I really missed Karaoke and after the first song you just wanna sing some more. Another one….. another one….

BBQ! BBQ! BBQ! That’s the theme for today. The weather here is Perth has never been better than today. The sun is up. No sign of rain that all and the chills seems to have disappear. A really warm day with the sun burning high above and I had to put on sun block to prevent myself from getting burnt. Though hot here, it seems that it is still bearable here than in Singapore. The one thing missing here is humidity, the temperature here can be 30 degrees and you will only have droplets of sweat. You DON’T feel sticky at all. And so, the weather is just perfect for a day out at the beach and for some BBQ. That’s the results of praying for days for good weather today….ha ha!

Today was my cell’s BBQ party at Heathcote. This beautiful place at Applecross where the blue skies’ above and the cool waters below. IT is really beautiful, Heathcote is actually a little park on a cliff just beside the coast. Just below is a river or lake with a mix of salt and freshwater. Over the horizon, you can actually see the skyline of Perth City. The view is spectacular. Standing at the park, you can see the many sail boasts sailing in unison in the waters and some people jet skiing at the other side.

This morning, woke up very early at 8am to go down to Canning Vale market with Arthur and Jeremy to get the Stuff for BBQ. Canning Vale market is famous for its very cheap stuff. We got like 20 plus pieces of beef steak for only $38. About 50 sausages for $5 and some chicken too. The chicken we marinated with Char Siew Sauce and make Satay Kebabs out of it. Along with that, we also had some lamp chops, buns and onions. Also, there is watermelon and salad too.

One good thing about BBQ in Ozzie is that it is so much more convenient, cheaper and cleaner than doing it in Singapore. Just imagine at East Coast Park, you gotta rent a BBQ pit in advance. Then you gotta buy charcoal, set up fire and you hope that the grills are clean enough to use (They are never clean). At the end, things are bound to be messy. Here, instead of a grill, BBQ pits are just a metal plate. Like a Teppanyaki. There is no need to book and free for you to use. Do you need Charcoal? The answer is NO! All you have to do is press a button and the BBQ pit will heat up. How cool and clean is that! Then, you either wash the metal surface a little or just place an aluminium foil on it. You are ready to cook and all in less than five minutes. At this point of time, your hands are still clean and you are not sweating from trying to start the fire with charcoal. No strenuous fanning with paper plate is needed. There is constant heat from the electronic heater down below. All you need to do is lay your food and you’ll be set for a great Ozzie BBQ experience. In Ozzie, I also found a great invention. Particularly good for BBQ, here you can buy cooking oil in spray canisters. So convenient, it is packaged like a spray can for your regular air freshner except that it reads ‘canola oil’ or something (please don’t buy the wrong one). So, again, no mess and getting your hand all oily and stuff; just spray oil across your surface and food to get and even covering. COOL!

Besides the BBQ, we also went down to the cool waters down below. It was ah hot day today and the water is just perfect to cool you off. We took lots of crazy pictures and Jith, Jeremy and me actually climbed a tree…ha ha! Maryann brought a Frisbee, we played and relaxed under the warmth of the sun after a really cold winter. SPRING IS FINALLY AT OUR DOORSTEP!

And, I’m not done with BBQ yet. Tonight, went over to Ian’s house. Ian, his sister, Michelle, his Brother-in-Law, Wendi, and me went to this really wonderful place called OGDEN’S. It is located at Gosnell’s Railway Market. This place is superb. Ian’s rating is 4 out of 5 stars. And I must agree to that. It is actually a bar and grill. But a family place nonetheless. When you enter the place, there is a really nice bar followed by a dance floor playing like mambo music. Then, there’s the grills (and I mean REAL grills) as well as the restaurant pat as well. Though there is a bar, kids are allowed to enter when accompanied by their parents. There is this lady walking around making balloon twists for each table. It is somehow a theme restaurant as well. Inside has a very western concept with wooden furniture and an old train right smack in the centre of the restaurant. You can have your meal in that train as well… really cool.

Here comes the food. The special thing about this place is that there is a REAL grill. The menu comes in 2 sections. One is the cooked food where you order and they come ready to be eaten. The 2nd section is that you buy uncooked meat. Whether is it, beef, lamb or chicken Schnitzel buy it raw and cook it yourself on the grills. The portion is really huge. And I mean HUGE! Me and Ian shared a T Bone. I saw another guys steak that is about 4cm thick!!! Anyway, there is a hot plate or a grill there complete with all the sauces, spices and condiments to go along to make your dinner more yummy. I’m not done yet, next, there is this free flow buffet. They offer you a selection of ready made salads. There is even, prawns, mussels and squids FREE-FLOW at the salad bar. Potatoes and vegetables are definitely present. We got onions and mushrooms and fried them on the hot plate with BBQ sauce. Guys, this is the Ozzie BBQ. You must never miss out Onions and mushroom fried with BBQ sauce. Amazing! The price is quite good as 2 person can share a meal and help yourselves to the salad buffet. This is a place NOT TO BE MISS! Food’s good, entertainment’s good, music’s good, ambience good!

So if you are in Perth, there are 2 ways to enjoy some good Ozzie BBQ. Under the bright warm sunny over looking the sea or a BBQ with good music, no frills and under a restaurant environment. You take your pick.

Just came back from church and supper again…ha ha! Had a seminar in church today instead of cell group. There was a guest speaker by the name of Rev. (Dr) Irvin Rutherford. A really inspiring speaker who talks about our inheritance in Christ Jesus and what God has given to each of us. This seminar has really led me to be more passionate and fired up for God. He has a plan for me and I have a mantle that I have to pick it up and go out to do His work. I can claim my inheritance in God.

After that, then went down to Carousel to have supper with the usual gang. Went to Fast Eddy’s to have some seafood delight. Good thing Mark had a 2 for 1 Fast Eddy’s vouchers….ha ha! Those UWA people who don’t want the voucher can please pass to me K…ha ha! Thanks!

School started 3 days already and the past few days wasn’t too bad. Realised only have 4 weeks of teaching weeks left before the exam starts. Good that I have only 1 exam at a very late date (not really happy about it) so there is no pressure about it yet. But got 2 exams on the last week before school ends and lots of stuff to do. Currently, have a presentation for week 12 and also will be going into filming next weekend. So be quite busy and just can’t wait for these 4 weeks to end…ha ha! Filming will be fun though.

Anyway, to break something I haven’t put on my blog, today ended my 6 lessons of hip hop classes here….ha ha! It was one of the guild programs in the uni and thought be good to go for some hip hop dnace lessons. Wow… it was really fun and learned some really cool moves. Down side is that is only for an hour a week. Wish that I can do more and get into it more. Really enjoyed every lesson. Felt a little weird and funny at the first lesson though. But now, I’m cool…ha ha! Not expert yet but having fun dancing definitely. We were taught to do some basic isolations as well as dance steps to this song “Lean Back”. After watching Honeyz really inspired me to dance Hip Hop….ha ha! Though not really good at it but like what my pretty instructor said, you just gotta feel it. Get the grooves into your bones….ha ha! Hopefully can get it on more seriously though. Maybe next sem or something. Good thing now they have lessons every week as a regular thing. Be going again next week….Yeah!

It was a long day today. Spent the whole day out. 2 more days before school re-opens. Tasha asked me to join them for shopping at Harbourtown. Harbourtown is this huge semi-outdoor shopping centre at the edge of the city. It is like a factory outlet. All the clothes here are genuinely cheap. You can get a really nice shirt for $10 or a pair of jeans for $20. They look good too. They are stuff you probably get back in Singapore from places like Top Shop where a shirt cost $69.90. So a really good place to shop. However, was not prepared to buy anything today but come to scout first….ha ha! In the end, accompanied Tash, Tiffany and Geraldine to shop. The girls really can SHOP with the capital letters S.H.O.P. Think we spent like 3 or 4 hours there and mostly are them doing the shopping….ha ha! But was fun lah. After that, took the train down to Fremantle for dinner before heading back. I liked the train trip. The rail runs along the seaside so we had a beautiful view of the sea and the horizon. Of course, sitting down watching the view was more than just therapeutic after shopping for the whole day.

Friday is cell group day again. Today at cell, after a really good time of fellowshipping, wonderful worship and sharing, a good laugh at playing taboo, we had a special dessert to top it all off. It was Tracy’s birthday was well. Sara baked her a apple cake. NOT apple pie but apple cake. Sara, it is really really nice. Not too sweet and the flavours all blended in very well. A real treat. Tracy seemed shy taking pictures and we had to robe in Geraldine, the ‘photo’ queen , to help get Tracy behind her birthday cake to get a picture of her. Ha ha… think she had a surprise. *Happy Birthday Tracy!*

Then, today Arthur and Geraldine taught us how to eat Tim Tams the Ozzie way. The people back in Singapore, here is like Tim Tam heaven. Many tons of different kinds of Tim Tams and the likes from Arnott’s. Anyway, you guys can try this back home as well. Get a pack of Tim Tam for your local supermarket, a tin of milo and carnation milk. Make first a cup of hot and sweet milo. Make sure the milo is hot but warm enough to drink. Bite off the edges of the Tim Tams at opposite ends, then use the Tim Tam as a straw and suck up the milo through the Tim Tam. IT IS GOOOD!!! The perfect mix of milo and chocolate biscuit. Then, the Tim Tam just melts from inside out, then just pop the whole thing in your mouth and let the chocolate and milo swim around you tongue. Munch it up and swallow well. Really simple but the taste is amazing. So you guys, can gather one evening and have a Tim Tam party, THE OZZIE WAY!

The night’s not done yet. After cell, some of us went down to this place at Northbridge called Famosa. It is a Bubble Tea Café opended by a Taiwanese. There are low tables and cushions as seats. You order your bubble tea, there’s food too, then you can enjoy your drink watching Taiwanese variety show. There are like comics and a cyber café too. I had a Kiwi green tea. Not too bad but Bubble Tea here is quite expensive. A$3 and you have to add A$0.50 for the pearls. So only can indulge occasionally….ha ha! All Asian food in Ozzie is expensive. Go for the steak, lamb chops or Turkey here. They’re cheap. In Ozzie, chicken is the most expensive meat to buy. Turkey is cheaper, can you believe it? The Macdonald’s here, have chicken McNuggets as the most expensive item on the menu. Cheers!

Just came back from a really good Italian meal. This evening, went shopping with Maryann, Geraldine and Arthur. Went to Garden City as Maryann had to pick up stuff for her Operation Christmas Child. Operaton Christmas Child is a project our church is supporting where each one have to fill up a shoe box with goodies for it to be shipped to less fortunate children around the globe. Is like their own Christmas gift. You have to pack a gift box filled with toys, some food, some things to draw, to hug, to use and to wear. You just need to specify the age and whether you are doing it for a boy or girl. Mine’s already done waiting for it to be wrapped…ha ha! Anyway, we walked around K Mart picking up stuff before walking around Garden City.

And guess what, I bought a formal jacket. Bought it off a sale at this shop called City Surf (Ozzie equivalent of Flash & Splash but much bigger). Here they sell all the quicksilver and Billabong stuff. The varieties here are more than those in Singapore. And yeah, to my surprise they sell formal jacket as well. Some with really funky and punky design. I bought a stripe one which I thought was a really good deal. The material of the jacket is good and going for only $49. Don’t think can get a formal coat at this price. Quite happy to get this coat. Gonna wear it for James Wedding in 2 weeks time….ha ha!

We shopped till about 9 before we left for Applecross for dinner. We were feeling hungry and Maryann recommended this Italian restaurant called Il Cha( if I’m not wrong). The ambience is nice and they serve authentic Italian food. We just missed to have a bottle of wine. In Ozzie, some restaurants allow you to bring your own wine or beer to consume in the restaurant. Thinking about this is really good and you don’t need to spend a bomb getting expensive wine off the restaurant itself. Anyway, we ordered two pasta and two pizzas. Shared everything among the 4 of us and was so full at the end. Been some time since I ate some good Italian pizza.

Wednesday, half way through the study break, and I’m feeling like a new man already….ha ha! Just came back from the Fremantle prison tour. Went down with some of my church people and it was a trip we have wanted to go for sometime. Finally got this chance to go during the break. Didn’t know they actually have this kind of tours. The Fremantle prison itself conducts many different kinds of tours. This one we went is supposedly the more exciting ones. Of course everyone will know walking around in the middle of the night in a half century old prison already gives off shiver down your necks. And you guessed it right, it is called a torchlight tour. Each of us is given a torchlight and being guided through the prison grounds and cells in semi darkness. There is a guide telling us stories as we walked the grounds. The guided tour was somehow an informative one but accompanied along was also some eerie stories about the prison. Good thing that it was a large group and the guide did actually have a sense of humour. The place gives off a bad feeling, I guess every prison will give off bad feelings right. However, some cells were really beautiful as the prisoners were allowed to paint murals on the walls. They were amazingly beautiful actually. And on this trip, they do attempt to scare you. But, I won’t tell you when, where and how. It will spoil the fun for those who haven’t gone on the tour right? So, have a go at it. It is a good tour, lots of interesting stories to hear and stuff to ‘see’….ha ha!

The tour ended about 10.30pm, we took some pictures before leaving the place. Like all Asians, the night was still not done yet. We drove down all the way to Concas, this nice little humble Turkish coffee house. They opened till late and like what we said, the majority of the people there having late night suppers are Asians. Ha ha… some things just never change. Yeah, this is like our favourite supper place and we had super hot chili mussels again. With lots of Garlic bread, we gotta pack them back as there were just too much. Jennifer’s parents and auntie were with us as well. Her auntie gave all of us a treat. It was very sweet of her. *Thanks auntie!*

Today is the first day of the study break and I’m not really feeling well. Had diarrhea back on Saturday with a full blown one today and my head is just spinning. Gosh…. Good thing was holiday too. Maybe is God telling me to take a break and rest myself. Did my reading log for my foundation unit and spent most of the time just sleeping in bed. Hope will be better tomorrow.

Tonight went over to Weijie’s aka Ian house for Steamboat. Actually, it was Meisi who heard that we’ve eaten steamboat and she is just craving for it. So it resulted in this steamboat dinner where the whole gang of us went. There were Meisi, Joey, Lydia, Raine, Joo and Zen. Of course also present are Weijie, his sister, Michelle, his brother-in-law, Wendi, and me. We took a bus down in the evening to his house arriving there just before the sky turns dark.

Today the weather was just beautiful and perfect. Like what Weijie said, the weather isn’t freezing neither was it hot. It was the kind of weather where you can have steamboat without breaking out into sweat. Like those from Singapore will know having steamboats or Korean BBQs at Marina Bay is just hot, hot, hot. After your meal, you just emerge smelling of smoke and sweating all over. In Ozzieland, we just have warmth from the steamboat and no sweat whatsoever.

Had the usual stuff like fishballs, fishcakes, beancurd and lots and lots of vegetables. There was so much food that we can’t really finish everything. It was a good, filling but healthy meal at the same time. Along with that, we have chicken rice and to top it off, traditional chicken rice chili (that is actually hot). That is of course courtesy of Weijie’s mum who was down under a week ago.

After dinner the girls gathered to talk ‘girl stuff’ while the guys went to clean up and do the dishes. We talked over some freshly cut fruits and ice-cream as well. It was good tomorrow is the start of the holidays so we stayed till late before getting a ride back home with a very satisfied stomach.

Perth Royal Show
Saturday, October 01, 2005

Hey people, sorry but my blog has been down for the pass few weeks so can’t post any interesting stories till now for all you lovely people to read. But anyway, I’m back with almost full force. Be back in force in a week’s time.

Anyway, today to tell you guys about Perth Royal Show. Before I even came to Perth, my good friend Muck (we call him Marximus) from Arts council already told me about this show. So I waited eagerly for half a year and the day is finally here. Woke up early this morning, met up with my friends and caught a train down to Claremont Showgrounds for the Perth Royal Show. Entry tickets were $18, heard they raised the ticket prices every year.

First step in and I can immediately sense the whole “fun fair” feel. The place is really huge and not like Singapore’s Pasar Malam. There were really lots of stuff and shops to look around. First stop we went to look at the animal shows. We walked and stumbled upon a dog show. They were having some competition then. The dogs there were really huge and beautiful. The girls were all screaming *AHH…. So cute*. All the dogs are really well groomed by their proud owners. Really beautiful animals. Then we went to look at some birds too. The different species of pigeons, chicken and ducks they have are incredible. There’s probably hundreds different kinds of them. Some of them are really weird looking. Some really pretty too, one of the pigeons seems to be wearing a fur coat. It is pure white in colour, like a snow princess. Others look weird, like having their brain on it’s beak….ha ha! There is also a golden rooster, feather all really nice. Besides that, there’s also many other animals like cats, ducks, emus, pigs, rabbits and all kinds of farm animals…ha ha! Saw the little pigs too, really cute. See already also wanna have one pig myself…ha ha! Least better than having dogs right, so many people have dogs already….ha ha!

Then went to take some rides, Fair must have rides one right. Here though is nothing compared to Disneyland but is definitely better than any that is in Singapore. I took a rollercoaster called the Python Loop and went for a Haunted mansion ride that was quite pathetic. Good thing was that it was on half price this morning. They had special discounts from newspapers. So each ride is like only $3. So still can try and have some fun….ha ha! I told my friends I can take any ride as long as they do not go round…ha ha! There were so many rides there, haunted houses alone think have already 3 or 4. They even have the pump jet that drops you at about 10 stories high. Wanted to try that, was a little scared at first but in the end, it was the price I was scared of….ha ha! $7 for a ride that lasts only for 3 seconds…ha ha! There’s better way of spending my Ozzie money.

Walked around and bought this thing called twist fries. They are not exactly curly fries. Is kinda cool actually. They have this machine that they will pass the potatotes through that slices and curls up the potatoes. Then they are fried in cylindrical containers. After that, you’ll get a block of twisted fries…ha ha! Quite nice but oily too.

Walk around the games stall too. Won a big honey bear for my friend, the games here are relatively easy to win a prize. Not like in Singapore where it seems impossible to win like a big teddy or something. Here, their prizes are all big soft toys. And they have a shop FULL of SPONGEBOBS!!! Wow… really dazzling to the eyes when you actually see it. The games are quite easy to play but you need luck or lots of skill…ha ha! But quite ok also lah. You walk around and you see everywhere people carry huge teddy bears, sharks or Kermit frogs…ha ha!

AS night dawns, the whole Show lighted up. Went back to the rides area and you feel like you’re in a fairytale land as there are like rainbow coloured lights everywhere. Night was really cool. There’s also a big field there where the have like car and motorbike shows, with people doing stunts. There’s also a monster truck show where the monster truck will drive over a row of cars and you see them being crashed up. In the end, there were the fireworks. It is really cool as the fireworks are really near to you. It lasted for about 10 to 15 minutes… really long. They came with many different kinds of designs too. That was the high point and conclusion of the show. Spent about 10 hours there before heading back home. Before I went back, bought a Spongebob Showbag as well as a Spongebob hammer too…ha ha! They say come show must never go back empty handed. Hands must carry things…ha ha!
On the way back on the train, you can see everyone on the train carry some big softtoy and my friends had these huge furry hats on…ha ha! One of my friend even had a larger than life size Bart Simpson…ha ha! I had to help her carry it…ha ha! Was a really fun day. Next year MUST go back again. But first, save money and practice all the games I see at the games stall first…ha ha! Gonna get for myself one of those big soft toys…ha ha!

And oh, for those Chocolate lovers out there, there was a chocolate fountain there too serving free chocolate coated bananas! SUGOI! Have a good night!
