Today is James’ and Iris’ wedding. Got to know this lovely couple through Wendi when I came to Perth. They had a wedding in a church near the King’s Park area. My 2nd wedding here and I’m here barely 3 months; very nice of them to invite me. It was a simple wedding with their family and friends. I helped them to do some video recording during the ceremony. It’s my forte anyway….ha ha! After that, we had a little high tea session. It was special as all the guest was told to bring something for the high tea and so we had a mix of all these amazing food. From cheese with crackers, to chicken to sushi to Indian pastry, it was all there and boy were they good. There were also these two fruit pies that were just amazing. One was with Strawberry and preach and the other just grapes. But the pies were just loaded with fruits. Loaded I tell you! Along with that, we had a range or wine and beer to go along as well. Then, we went down to UWA (University of Western Australia) to take some wedding pictures. You guys might think why go to a Uni to take Wedding pictures, well UWA does really have a beautiful architecture to their building and a lovely scenery. Imagine the Uni’s building is just like an art museum right out of Europe, complete with Roman style pillars. Really nice.
In the evening, James and Iris treated all of us to dinner to thank us for helping them out during their wedding. Went to this Chinese restaurant called Happy Meals and the food really reflect the name of is restaurant. The food’s good. We had beef brisket, roast duck, fried fish, blachang (real blachang!) vege. The restaurant had BYO as well so we had some sparkling wine as well.
For those outside of Ozzieland, here some restaurants have this sign called BYO, meaning Bring Your Own, when you see this you can bring your own bottles of wine to the restaurant. Which means, you will not need to get expensive wine from the restaurant and can bring your own. On top of that, the restaurant will also chill the wine for you and give you glasses. That’s what I call service.
Anyway, after dinner, the whole gang of us went down to James’ and Iris’ house to sing Karaoke. And I’m the one forced to sing…ha ha! But we all had a lot of fun just hanging out, drinking beer and singing together. James has a room just for Karaoke and his collection of songs is comprehensive. I really missed Karaoke and after the first song you just wanna sing some more. Another one….. another one….
